Power of Positive Thinking

In society today peoples expectations are high, not only of themselves, but of others as well. For the average person they have their own expectations, their parents, close friends, and significant other. Together all tese expectations can cause someone to become stressed out and potentially feel inadequate. These thoughts can lead to negative associations with achieving; thefore hindering your performance, possibly resulting in not achieving your goal.

When we feel the pressures of other people, or even ourselves, we start making statements like “If I don’t do this ____will happen.” “If I don’t do this (insert name) will be disappointed.” “If this doesn’t happen I won’t have ____.” All these statements are negative statements. If we live our lives trying to let down someone or merely to keep something from happening we are ultimately depriving ourselves of our truest potential. To unlock this potential we must change how we think. This will change everything.

Words like “can’t, don’t know, its impossible” should be taken out of your vocabulary today. These words have negative associations with inadequacy, and the moment you use one of these words in regards to doing something you’ve admitted failure. If you can’t, learn; if you don’t know, find out; if its impossible, it’s possible or you woulldn’ t be giving it thought.

Positive thinking changes all that we do. It can even change how we view ourselves. Instead of focusing on our negative attributes we should focus on our strengths. “I am good at ___” “I have excellent_____.” In today’s world the people without confidence in themselves get left on the side. People do not believe in someone who does not believe in themselves. It is a sad fact of life, but people would rather tell you “you’re not good enough” than try to help you. Before you do anything else today, write a list of what you’re good at and positive things about you. Now take this list and read it daily, eventually you will believe it and in yourself. The best part of that list is that it is true.

Today’s Thought:

If you don’t believe in yourself, how do you expect others to believe in you. Start believing in yourself today!

Take Back Control, Don’t let Fear Control You (3 of 4)

Take Control

As I mentioned in my previous post, you have to take control of your fear of failing. If you allow fear of any kind to eat at you eventually it will win. This will leave you exactly where you didn’t want to be in the first place. If fear is in control, you are not. This is completely opposite of how we want to live. We need to take control of our fear. Don’t Fear Failure (2 of 4)

What is fear?

Fear is an emotion. It is a feeling that occurs when one feels as though something bad is about to happen. Since fear is an emotion and we, as people have control over our emotions, there should be no reason why we don’t have control over our fears. Sometimes our emotions get the best of us and have serious impacts on decisions we make and can consume our thoughts. [Read the rest of this entry...]
